The great thing about Community Supported Agriculture is that word "community." By making the active choice to interact with your local farmer, you are taking ownership of your food sources. You are advocating for local food, local business, local farmers. You are supporting a sustainable foodshed. It might seem like you're doing a lot just by putting food on your family's table, but that's the beautiful thing about making educated decisions and choosing local, sustainable options.
How does it work? It's pretty easy. CSAs are basically a subscription, a farm subscription. You pay for a regular "share" of edibles … with produce it's typically weekly pickup, with meat it can be more variable. And then you pick it up, perhaps cook it, and eat it up -- yum.
What do you get out of it? Fresh and fabulous food … and an award-winning smile from your new friend, your farmer.
