Oh Christmas Tree!

Dec 15, 04:19 PM by Claire

With Thanksgiving come and gone, it is now time to get ready for Christmas. Perhaps one of the most exciting parts about Christmas is the selection and decoration of the perfect tree. As a non-native Washingtonian, I wasn’t sure where to go in the area to choose and cut my own tree. Luckily, there is the trusty internet to help me (and everyone else) find where to go.

I found a few sites that list Christmas tree farms and tree lots as well as places that offer hay rides and slay rides. Beyond that, some of the sites explain what you want to look for when selecting, how to best care for a tree, and the many uses of Christmas trees after they are “past their prime.” Check out the great tips and resources provided at Pick Your Own Christmas Tree.

If you know everything you need to know about buying and taking care of a tree but would like to know where to cut your own, check out the Christmas Tree Farm Network for a listing of Christmas tree farms in Washington.

This weekend, along with a couple of friends, Aaron and I are heading out on our first Christmas tree farm adventure. I can’t wait to put the tree up in our house and decorate it with all the familiar ornaments from each of our childhoods. Happy holidays!

Did you consider getting a living, potted tree? This seems like more of a sustainable option.
